Aquatic Center Havasu Art Guild display cases
About Irene -
I was born in Vancouver, Washington and started painting in the early 70’s. Tole painting was very popular and that was my first attempt to paint. Then I discovered oil painting and it was great to work with, but found a love for Watercolor. I loved the way the paint flowed on the paper. At that point I knew that was a medium for me.
I am basically a self-taught artist, however I have had classes from some of the best artists such as Tom Lynch, Steven Quiller, Claudia Nice, and Bev Joswick. I was juried into Southwest Washington Watercolor Society. I am now a juried member of the Havasu Art Guild and involved in the Aquatic Center art gallery where I display my art. My art has been on displayed at the Bill Spresser Gallery, Havasu Museum, and Visitor Center. I have continued my education at MCC College in arts.
When I moved to Lake Havasu City, Arizona in 2010 I wanted to get involved in the Havasu Art Guild, but my neighbor was a volunteer with Friends of Hospice of Havasu, so I joined the Hospice Boutique and creating items for sale as a way to give back to the community. My mother passed away with Pancreatic cancer and she was very creative also.
Acrylic painting became popular so I took classes at Pam Reinke studio and was one of her Paint Posse group. Our group has painted “Locks of Love” which sold for charity. Our dog painting was auctioned off at the Western Arizona Humane Society fund raiser. Other paintings have been displayed in the Red Onion Restaurant and other locations around town.
When you’re buying my art you are buying a little piece of my heart and soul thru God, a moment of my life, to make your life come alive in art!
"ART MAKES THE SOUL FLY!"
