About Mary Elise-
In 2002 I was able to reconnect with clay and rediscover my love for creating functional works of art. Upon moving to Lake Havasu in 2004, I took classes, joining the community of potters and furthered my connection with fellow artists by joining with the Havasu Art Guild.
I still occasionally take classes, but most of my art is created in my studio. My work can sometimes be whimsical in nature, with twist and design, mixed clay bodies and glazes, or an unexpected shape, though my pottery is always functional in nature. It is my belief that pottery is made to be handled and used, loved and enjoyed. With this in mind, it is my wish for those that buy my work that they not only enjoy the aesthetics, but that they feel a connection to the piece.
My main body of art is consistent with pottery. However, I also work with silver to create jewelry and essentia loils to create aromatically therapeutic blends.
I use art as an expansion of the self; through beauty and design, through challenging forms, and through pushing the limits of preconceived ideas. It is a fresh breeze for my mind and a balm for my soul.
I can be contacted and am in association with the Havasu Art Guild. I often sell my art at Art Guild sponsored shows.
