About Jim -
I am a graduate Mechanical Engineer and worked for several process controls companies across the U.S.before my retirement. I first became interested in Artistry Glass work as a hobby. I took several classes in stained glass with Copper Foiling. My initial effort was making flat pieces, then I progressed to making clocks, and repairing copper foiled windows and other damaged artwork.
While I enjoyed stained glass art, being an engineer, I became disenchanted with working in a FLAT medium. Eventually, I began making three-dimensional clocks and ultimately became interested in Fused Glass.
While living in Payson AZ, I joined the Payson Art League and worked with other artists to form an Art Co-opin Payson. I set up a studio in my home, and worked my designated hours at the Co-op. In 2012 my wife and I packed up my Kiln and moved to Lake Havasu City.
I’ve been impressed to watch the development of the Art community in Havasu. I love designing fused glass vases, plates and sometimes unusual art pieces. I still make clocks, but with fused glass rather than copper foiling. Idabble in other glass work, such as hand-crafted glass beads, or really anything I can form, bend or melt in my kiln. In my spare time, you’ll find me in my backyard studio working on new designs in fused glass.
