About Terry -
The charm in my silk paintings lies in the beauty of their painted texture. The delicate surface appreciated by the viewer is also my inspiration. The use of effective pigment creates a sparkling and mysterious atmosphere. When my dye filled brush touches the stretched silk, the flow is mesmerizing. Learning new ways to manipulate this flow to create images and texture is what keeps me enthralled with painting on silk. The primary subject matter for my painting is influenced by my growing up on a western ranch as well as travels throughout the Southwest. To keep from becoming stagnant, I enjoy the challenge of commissioned works; painting images of different landscapes, people and animals that are outside my usual realm of interest.
